I evaluated the StelsVPN service by separating ordinary shared VPN use from the dedicated-server use case. StelsVPN is easier to evaluate when its three plan types are treated as different architectures rather than as simple upgrades. The Free plan is a constrained compatibility tier, Pro is a conventional shared VPN subscription, and VIP Individual gives the customer a personal VPN server. That difference matters for business users who need a consistent source IP, households with several devices and anyone deciding whether the much higher VIP price solves a real problem. I reviewed StelsVPN from that practical buying perspective, focusing on plan design, protocols, device coverage, published infrastructure, privacy expectations and the trade-off between shared and dedicated endpoints.
Buyer snapshot
| Item | What matters |
|---|---|
| Best fit | General VPN use, multi-device households, remote work and users who specifically need a consistent personal VPN endpoint |
| Plans | Free, Pro and VIP Individual / personal VPN server |
| Protocols / features | OpenVPN, IKEv2, kill switch, DNS/IP leak protection and up to 10 active sessions |
| Main buying question | Whether a shared Pro exit is sufficient or a dedicated personal server solves an actual business requirement |
Free is useful as a test, not as a full VPN plan
The Free tier includes a 300 MB daily data limit, limited countries and advertising. That makes it too restrictive for regular streaming, backups, software downloads or always-on protection. It is still useful for one reason: compatibility testing. A buyer can install the client, confirm that it connects on the local network, verify that the intended operating system is supported and check whether basic browsing works before paying.
I would use the free plan only long enough to answer those questions. If the software behaves correctly, move to Pro or VIP based on the actual endpoint requirement. Trying to stretch a small free allowance into a production workflow usually creates a poor impression of any VPN service.
Pro is the sensible choice for ordinary VPN use
The annual Pro plan shown during this review works out to €3.90 per month, or €46.80 for twelve months. It includes all countries, no stated traffic limit, up to ten active sessions and shared access to the provider’s network. For a household, traveler or remote worker who mainly wants encrypted traffic on untrusted networks and a different public IP, this is the plan that makes economic sense.
Up to ten simultaneous sessions is particularly useful because it can cover a laptop, phone, tablet and several additional devices without separate subscriptions. I would still avoid connecting every device automatically unless it benefits from the VPN; unnecessary tunneling can add latency and make troubleshooting more complicated.
VIP Individual is a dedicated-endpoint product, not simply premium Pro
The VIP Individual plan is priced much higher: the site currently shows €25.90 per month and an annual total of €310.80. The important feature is exclusivity. The customer receives a personal VPN server rather than sharing an exit with ordinary Pro subscribers. That can be useful for business SaaS allowlists, remote administration, a stable source IP or workflows where a changing shared exit creates login friction.
The dedicated server does not automatically make the user anonymous or bypass every platform restriction. It provides a more consistent network identity. Buyers should pay the premium only when that consistency solves a real operational problem. For general browsing, Pro is far more economical.
Pricing and value snapshot
I also checked the public StelsVPN plans while comparing the three plan architectures. Pricing can change, so treat this as a September 2026 snapshot.
| Plan | Monthly equivalent | Annual / allowance | Key scope | Best use |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | €0 | 300 MB/day | Limited countries | Compatibility testing |
| Pro 12 months | €3.90/mo | €46.80/year | All countries, up to 10 sessions | General VPN use |
| VIP Individual | €25.90/mo | €310.80/year | Personal VPN server, up to 10 sessions | Stable dedicated endpoint |
OpenVPN and IKEv2 cover the core practical use cases
OpenVPN remains a broadly supported option for desktops, routers and third-party clients. IKEv2 is often convenient on mobile devices because it can recover cleanly when a phone switches between Wi-Fi and cellular networks. StelsVPN also advertises a kill switch and DNS/IP leak protection, which are useful baseline controls.
I would verify those features on every operating system in use. Kill-switch behavior can differ by client, and DNS handling can change when the operating system, browser or local network uses its own secure DNS settings. A quick leak test after connection is more reliable than assuming a feature behaves identically everywhere.
Published server speed is infrastructure capacity, not your guaranteed result
StelsVPN advertises high-capacity servers and says Pro infrastructure starts from 10 Gb/s while personal servers start from 300 Mb/s. Those numbers describe the server side, not the end-user connection. Actual throughput depends on the user’s ISP, distance to the VPN server, route quality, encryption overhead and congestion.
I would test three locations that match real usage: the nearest region, the region needed for work and one long-distance location. Measure latency and sustained download during normal hours. A VPN should be judged by whether it keeps the required application responsive, not by whether the provider publishes a large backbone number.
The refund wording deserves clarification before purchase
One issue I would verify at checkout is the money-back period. Public StelsVPN pages have shown different wording in different sections, including 72-hour references on tariff cards and a seven-day statement in general service information. When public wording is inconsistent, the safest approach is to confirm the current policy before relying on it.
This is also a good reason to use the Free tier for compatibility testing first. If the client does not work well on the intended network or device, discovering that before payment reduces the importance of refund rules.
Privacy expectations should remain realistic
A VPN encrypts traffic between the device and the VPN server and changes the public IP seen by destinations. It does not erase account identifiers, browser cookies or application telemetry. The VPN provider also becomes an important trust point. Users should review the current privacy policy and terms and decide whether that trust model matches their needs.
For business use, I would also separate privacy from access control. A personal VPN server can provide a fixed source IP for allowlisting, but the SaaS account should still use strong authentication, least-privilege permissions and MFA. Network identity is one layer, not the whole security model.
Pros and limitations
| Pros | Limitations |
|---|---|
| • Free tier for compatibility testing | • Public refund wording has differed across site sections |
| • Low annual Pro price for ordinary VPN use | • Published server capacity is not a personal speed guarantee |
| • Up to ten active sessions | • VIP Individual is much more expensive than Pro |
| • OpenVPN and IKEv2 support | • VPN use does not remove account/browser tracking |
| • Personal VPN server option for fixed-IP business needs | • Users should review current privacy terms themselves |
My pre-purchase checklist
- Use Free to verify the client before paying
- Choose Pro unless a dedicated endpoint solves a real need
- Test latency to the locations you actually use
- Verify kill switch and DNS behavior on each device
- Confirm current refund terms at checkout
- Use MFA and application security even with a personal VPN server
How I would run the first week
Day 1 would be a client and protocol test on the real devices. Day 2 would compare two or three server locations for latency and throughput during ordinary use. Day 3 would verify DNS/IP leak behavior and the kill switch. If a personal VPN server is being considered, the remaining days would test the fixed endpoint with the exact business service that needs IP allowlisting. Only after that would I decide whether the VIP premium solves enough friction to justify its cost.
I would also document which applications should bypass the VPN, which require it, and what the recovery procedure is if the tunnel fails. That avoids the common mistake of turning a VPN into an invisible dependency that nobody understands until access stops working.
FAQ
Which StelsVPN plan is best for most people?
Pro is the sensible default for normal VPN use because it combines unlimited traffic, all countries and multiple sessions at a low annual price.
When is VIP Individual worth it?
When a stable dedicated VPN endpoint solves a real requirement such as IP allowlisting or consistent remote administration.
Is the Free plan enough for daily use?
Not for most users because of the 300 MB daily limit and reduced country access.
Does a personal VPN server guarantee anonymity?
No. It provides a dedicated endpoint, but account tracking, cookies and provider trust still matter.
Should I test the kill switch?
Yes. Verify behavior on every operating system and network you actually use.
Conclusion
StelsVPN’s plan structure is easier to justify when each tier is matched to a different need. Free is a compatibility test, Pro is the value plan for ordinary shared VPN use and VIP Individual is a specialist product for buyers who genuinely need a stable dedicated endpoint. I would not pay the VIP premium for casual browsing, but I can see clear value for business allowlists and remote administration. The main due-diligence step is to confirm current refund language and test client behavior on the exact devices and networks that matter.
